GR Press

Hope you all had a great Christmas
Just in time for Christmas, RCS appeared in the GR Press today in the religion section (C2). There is a picture of Grace Wammack holding a "Christ child" (Miss. Oren's niece) as part of our Live Nativity, along with a short story about the event. Check it out in the Press or follow the link below.

The 7th graders will be going to Camp Roger on tomorrow afternoon (December 2). The students will eat lunch early and we will leave for camp at noon.

Going Away Party
Kylie and Spencer (they are both 7th graders) and Joseph (a 5th grader) will be moving during Christmas break and not returning to RCS. While we will certainly miss them, we are excited for the new things they are going to experience and are grateful for the time they have spent at RCS. we will pray for them also!

The Jingle Bells Post Office
The Jingle Bells Post Office is now open! Please stop by morning and noon break to buy your stamps, stationary, and envelopes (5 cents each). The first and second grade classes are running the post office as a service project to raise money to buy an animal or two for a family in another country. The last day of delivery is Friday, December 18th.

Middle School Christmas Events
On Friday, December 18th, we will have our class Christmas celebrations. We will be going to Pando to go tubing. Students need to bring in $5 to help cover the cost of Pando. Please have your child bring in the money by Friday, December 11th. After Pando, we will have a class party back at school.

Elementary Classroom Christmas Parties
On Friday, December 18th, we will have our individual classroom parties. They will begin around 1:00 and go until 3:00. Look for more details from your class head room parent. We will conclude the day with an all school carol sing in the worship center. You are invited to join us.

Spelling Bee
The Spelling Bee will take place on Friday, December 11th starting at 1:40. Anyone is welcome to come and watch in the Worship Center.

A Note from Mrs. VanDyke
Just a reminder that the choir concert will be on Wednesday, December 9 at DeVos Center for Arts and Worship. Students should arrive by 7:10 p.m. The concert will begin at 7:30. Students are expected to wear "nice" clothing. Thanks,

The 8th grade had a good time at Camp Roger.

Like every year, Grand friend’s Day was GREAT!!

A couple of Monday’s ago family time was great!! We had Mully Children’s Family come in, if you missed it come into school and see the photos on the monitors in the front!! I will keep them up until DecemberCan you tell I like family time?

Operation Christmas Child has began.

Salvation Army went good. I gave my testimony again like I did last year for family time.

A few weeks ago I called Grandma. She said Grandpa, my mom’s dad, went back in the hospital, has to get his heart shocked, and might be having some blood issues. Can you pray for us please?

The students did a great job on their entries. Congratulations to Jenna Decker (3rd place), Nathaniel Overmyer (2nd place), and Alivia Jackson(1st place). The students' entries will be displayed for the rest of the week.

Servant Awards

Congratulations to the first recipients of the Servant Awards for this school year in middle dchool
6th grade: Nick Ignatoski
7th grade: Austin Rumsey
8th grade: Austin Hendrick

The Servant Awards are given out throughout the year to recognize students whose teachers see displaying attitudes that are others-centered.

Sep 27

How are we already to the end of September? September just flew right on by.

This is a few reminders for all my good friends at RC.

Bike-a-thon is happening this week. Pledges are due tomorrow! Remember, this is the only fundraiser that we hopefully we will do this school year. The more money we can raise, the more this is a likely thing! Help your child call everyone that your family knows, but please make sure you have your kids ask before they call anyone!! We are in need of healthy snack options for the day of the bike-a-thon. Please send these items in with your son/daughter.

As a school community, we have the great privilege to make a difference in the lives of those children who are hospitalized at the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital by donating new toys, coloring books, crayons, markers, etc. All during this week, we will be collecting these items in large white boxes in the front lobby. Then on Friday night, we are encouraging everyone to attend the Grand Rapids Christian High Eagles v. East Grand Rapids High Pioneers football game. All of the students will be given a special t-shirt to wear supporting the "Hearts of Gold" fundraiser. This will be a fun family event to go to with your friends from the Rockford Christian community. I am probably not going to be there but you never know!!!

This week Friday is one of the greatest days of the year, Grandfriend's Day. Please be sure to try to have someone, whether it's a friend of the family, an aunt, or an uncle join us on Friday morning. The students each brought home an invitation to deliver/send to their special guest. We only sent home one per child knowing that many students have siblings at school. If you need an extra, please e-mail their teacher. Their teacher will be glad to send another one home. Also, if you simply do not have anyone available for your child, which I understand, please let me know that as well and I will try to go in the room if I can. Thursday is the pre-school friends' Grandfriend's Day!!

The 8th grade is over-night at Camp Roger. Pray that they have a GREAT time and they are safe!

Thank you for letting me to get to know your children more!

the en

In May
Mr. Buth went up in a tree for a fund raiser for the teton trip middle school
Mr. Devos spoke to all the kids because the Gr. Schools received a donation from him.
I gave a staff reflection to the 8th grade class! Even though I will miss then. I know that God has them in His Hands!! I wasn’t looking forward to that night!

Know I look forward to seeing all my friends at R.C.S. again in September, to start another school year but I am glad for the break

We heard that there was an Eagle's nest by 12 mile road and Wabises. We checked it out today, saw the huge nest and an adult Eagle perched on a tree not far off the road. You should all go see it!
