Thanks to Mr. Ben VanderKodde from Grace Adventure Camp for leading Family Time this morning!He taught us about the fruit of "Patience".

 Mexican Dinner Fundraiser – Friday, May 4

The purpose of the dinner is to raise funds for the Spanish language program at RCS (Spanish immersion and 1st – 8th Spanish for all students) in order to purchase more Spanish language books for the RCS library.  A $ 10 ticket will get you a complete authentic Mexican dinner.  ($10 per ticket or a maximum of $ 40 for a family of 4 or more.)  The dinner is limited to 200 persons, so make sure to get your tickets early; tickets are available in the school office.

Prayer Concerns

Please be in prayer for Mrs. Broersma as she is in the hospital with pancreatitis.  Pray for inflamation in her pancreas to go down so that surgery can be performed as soon as possible.  Please pray that her body will be fully healed so that she can return to school soon.  Thanks.

Blog update April 23

I hope you had a nice enjoyable weekend!!!

"Goodness" this month.
Galatians
5:22-25

We have started fitness testing for students in first through eighth grades.
The 5 tests are:
Mile run,
Sit-ups,
Sit & reach is done
Shuttle Run is done
Pull-ups is done
Students should not be worried, just do their best

This week at a glance:

We had a beautiful Family Time on Monday when the 6th graders along with Miss Barrett and Mr. VerMerris led us in praising and celebrating God's creation.  Mr. VerMerris told a wonderful and insightful story entitled "Tommy's Sailboat".  This story illustrated how much God loves each of us and how He cares for His creation.

The Environmental Classroom students will be taking a tour Wednesday afternoon at the Waste-to-Energy facility in Grand rapids.  On Friday they will be going to Luton Park to pick garlic mustard plants--an invasive plant that is growing in woods across our state.



Benefit Concert for Haiti (promotion)
When: Friday, April 27, 2012 2:00 PM-2:30 PM (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada).
Where: RCS Worship Center

River Rock News
We would love it if you could help us spread the word about our upcoming Benefit Concert on Saturday.

The Student Ministry at River Rock Church will be hosting a benefit concert to raise money for Christian Light Ministries and their work in Port au Prince Haiti.

Christian Light Ministries is working to build a school and to fund a new orphanage. The orphanage was destroyed in the earthquake in 2010. The children are currently living in the school, which is under construction!

The 6th grade Environmental Classroom students
would like to thank all of you who brought paperboard cardboard for the past 6 weeks. Kent County Recycling Challenge gave us a goal of collecting 1, 150 boxes. RCS made a goal of collecting 3,000 boxes. Our FINAL total???? It will be announced at Family Time on Monday, April 23.

What is new at RCS?

During Spring Break, we painted the gym, took out the playhouse on the playground, added a bunch of playground mulch, spent 8 hours hanging wildlife mounts in Mr. VerMerris’ room, and stripped/waxed the front lobby.

Don’t forget about gym shoes for P.E. days.

We had a good "RCS Spirit Week” prior to Spring Break. 8th Grade and 5th Grade tied for the lead in the classroom competition.
