Rockford Christian Care & Concern

Please continue to pray for Rick Frontjes, father of Lindsey (8th grade). He is at home recovering from injuries from a serious fall in early September

Please pray for the Kormash family, as John was deployed overseas last
week. Pray for the family as they adjust to this new reality for their family in the coming months, and pray for safety for John during this deployment.

Many of you may remember Alexis Weber, one of the 3 children of Chad and Angie Weber. Alexis was in a serious accident on Saturday afternoon.
Please keep the Weber family in your prayers. Alexis, Brianna, and Tyler are
former students of RCS; their parents are Chad and Angie. On Saturday, Alexis
was severely injured by a tree that was being cut down. She has several skull
fractures and swelling of the brain. The next few days are critical. Please pray for Alexis, for strength and peace for their family, and for the doctors and staff taking care of Alexis.
To receive updates on Alexis, please visit www.carepages.com. Click on visit and
search "alexisweber." Carepages will then prompt you to become a member. Fill
out the information and then it will send you directly to Alexis's page. There is a comment section where you can send comments to the family.

Are you looking for creative ways to save your photos? If you and your friends are, then please reserve Friday evening and Saturday, November 5 and 6, for a wonderful time of organizing and creatively displaying your pictures in life-long photo albums. If you’re not sure how to do it properly, come and learn from experts who will be on hand to show you!! Additional information will be coming soon but reserve the dates now and invite your friends to join you in this wonderful (and peaceful) time of “cropping” or scrapbooking.

This Friday, October 8th Grandfriends’ Day at RCS I think it is one of the best days of the school year!

Sep 25 update

Family Time
On Monday morning, September 27, the preschool-2nd graders will be gathering for Family Time in the RCS Worship Center. This will occur from 8:55 to about 9:20 a.m. Parents are invited and encouraged to join us for this time of singing praises to God with your children. Join us in the Worship Center this Monday morning! (Middle school will have a separate Family Time at the start of the day, and the 3rd-5th graders will be going to ArtPrize that morning.)

ArtPrize
What a wonderful day we had yesterday at ArtPrize. The students were excited about the art that they saw and some of our students were able to speak to several artists who had pieces on display. Although the day was enjoyable, it was really just a "sampler plate" of the ArtPrize entries. I would like to encourage you to take your child(ren) down to ArtPrize sometime in the near future and spend additional time at several of the venues. The Environmental Classroom students were able to go to an extra venue when we went to Monroe Community Church where they had many beautiful works on display. In fact, my top vote getter is now at MCC. A special thanks to Pastors Amy and Henry Schenkel, Megan's parents, for inviting us to visit that venue located at 800 Monroe NW. Be sure to check it out!!! I went to ArtPrize with the R.C.M.S. I also went to Monroe Community Church. I enjoyed the day besides the rain!
Thanks Bev for taking me!

Did you know!!
I’m in charge of the monitors? If you took any pictures of the Bike-a-Thon or ArtPrize and want to see them on the monitors, email them to me and I will be glad to put them up!

From thee Environmental Classroom,

Next Tuesday, Sept. 28, the Environmental Classroom has an opportunity to put there faith into action. For the past week there morning devotions have focused on the word "compassion" and how we need to show the compassion of Christ to those around us. Well, late this week RCS received a phone call from the Rockford American Legion Mobile Food Pantry asking for help from students next Tuesday. This will be a beautiful way to put our faith into action considering that one of there devotions was based on Col 3:12.

It was a great success! We are so thankful to the committee and all the parents who put so much time and effort into this great night. It was wonderful and inspiring to hear from three of our 8th grade friends about their experiences at Rockford Christian. All of the Staff are so proud of the growth that has taken place in these students. Our Father’s World was a wonderful celebration of our students, our community and our school!

Mar 2, 2010

We had a great start today for the week and the new month!! Today’s weather is absolutely beautiful.

This Is Our Father’s World event is scheduled for this Thursday evening, Mar. 4. We hope to have this evening be a wonderful celebration! I hope to see you there!

In the 6th grade Environmental Classroom
They started African country presentations today and continuing through Friday. I think they would like your prayers as they do this.

Beginning on Friday, Mr. VerMerris will start his “Interim Principal” position for the remainder of the month. Mr. Buth will be coming into 6th grade and handling many of his daily classes.
SCRAPBOOKING EXTRAVAGANZA!! March 12 & 13!! Please, please talk up the scrapbooking event to your friends and family. Last year was a wonderful time for women to come for the weekend and learn more about and do scrapbooking with their photos. This year promises to be the same great time. This event (Friday and Saturday or either day) is a great fundraiser for the Environmental Classroom. In fact, the mothers who are putting it on are mothers from last year’s class who are donating the profits to our 2010 Environmental Classroom! Last year the EC made $725, and we hope that we can better that amount this year. Please let Lori Melton or Tami Redfield know if you are interested.
Bring some friends!

I'm going to speak at chapel at G.R.C.S. tomorrow morning. I will be at school before I go speak.

Have a great first week of March!!
Until next time -
