Blog Update Monday, October 27th

I hope that you had a good weekend!

Noon Recess Duty Help
As this year has begun, we have run into a shortage of volunteers in trying to fill the noon recess schedule with a minimum of three parents for each lunch hour recess.  As we seek to provide this coverage for our kids and a break for our teachers in the middle of their day, Mr. Burgess requests that if you are able to be on lunch recess duty (12:20 - 12:40 p.m.) even one day per month, we would appreciate your help.  Please contact Lissa Fuller, our recess coordinator, at pavlovmom1@gmail.com or 616-550-0391 if you can help.  She will plug you into the schedule that comes out at the start of every month.  Thanks.

Traffic Flow Reminders
At pick-up and drop-off time, please remember (a) to keep your eyes out for pedestrian traffic and (b) to keep moving with the regular flow of traffic.  Please keep your drop-off time to a minimum. We have a number of students being picked-up by parents/other adults and, in order to keep this process smooth and efficient, we need you to keep moving around the circle drive and then to exit on the east side (by the flagpole) and not to drive back into the parking lot once you have picked up your child.  IF you need to come into school for something, please park in the parking lot and walk in; do not leave a vehicle unattended in the pull-up line (as this backs up traffic significantly).  Thanks, in advance, for your courtesy to others in this busy time of day.

Scholastic Book Fair coming!
The Scholastic Book Fair will be here at school the first week of December. More information coming soon. If you would like to volunteer to help out with the book fair, please contact Colleen Knape at 874-4113.

Family Time News
Thank you to Mrs. Underwood for kicking off the Operation Christmas Child shoebox service project. It will be exciting to fill the shoe boxes with items that are truly appreciated by millions of children around the world and to introduce them to God’s message of salvation. Ask your children more about this. Lists for each grade will be coming home this week.

Parent-Teacher Conference Babysitting
Parents, do you need someone to watch your children while you attend Parent-Teacher Conferences Tuesday, October 21 (1:15-5:30)?  If so, you have a fun and friendly option to choose right here at school!  8th graders will be offering their babysitting services, complete with activities planned, during these Conference times in order to raise money for their class trip to Mackinaw City in May.  Take advantage of this convenient and entertaining (or educational if your child needs to get some homework done!) opportunity, and help to support the 8th graders with a donation.  Sign in/out will be in the middle school hallway.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact Mrs. Oren.  Thanks!
