Worship center decorations

Thank you, River Rock Church, for decorating the worship center!

RCS Apparel

Looking for a Christmas present for your RCS student(s)? We now have RCS t-shirts and sweatshirts available in youth and adult sizes in Carolina Blue. The adult jackets have arrived; a sample is hanging in the office window. The jacket is available in both mens and ladies sizes. We are clearing out our "pink" Eagle t's for $5.

Emergency School Closings

When inclement weather makes it necessary to cancel school, announcements are made over the following radio and television stations: WOOD AM 1300, and TV Channels 8 and 13. If Rockford Public Schools are closed or on a delay, RCS is also closed or on a delay and will be listed separately. A delay will result in no before-school care, no morning kindergarten, no preschool and no Kids’ Club. If the delay happens on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, class for afternoon kindergarten enrichment students will begin at 12 noon that day.

Live Nativity

Thank you to all that came to the Live Nativity last Thursday night.  Also, thank you to all the volunteers that helped make this night possible.

Family Time

Monday in Family time we were reminded of the sweet story that the candy cane represents - Jesus' birth and the gospel message too.  Everyone was given a candy-cane to share with someone that might not know who Jesus is.  Ask your Kids about this family time.

6th Grade Environmental Classroom news

Today the 6th Grade Environmental Classroom went to Frederik Meijer Gardens for viewing the “Christmas Around the World” exhibit.  I join them on this beautiful field trip.  On Friday afternoon they will be joining the 7th & 8th graders as they tube down the hills of Pando.

Thanks for all you do for God’s Kingdom!

Blog Update Monday, November 25 2013

Operation Christmas Child
Rockford Christian Families and River Rock Church Families collected and delivered 230 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child.  Thank you for all your help!

Service Projects
This week the students are doing service projects around the area.

Kindergarten and the 1st grade Students are headed to Cook Valley Estates on Tuesday to serve the residents there.  They baked muffins today and will pass them out at Cook Valley tomorrow.  The students will also be singing, doing a craft, and spending time with the residents.

The 2nd  graders, along with Senora Rose's Spanish Immersion 1st/2nd grade class will be shopping at the grocery store for breakfast foods to fill in Breakfast Bundles, which will go to support Kids Food Basket. They will be using almost $300 that they made from pumpkin patch sales to buy the food and supplies. The Students will fill Breakfast bundles for many children in Grand Rapids when they are gone on long weekends or holidays from school and they are not able to get breakfast. The Students will also decorate sack supper bags for children in Grand Rapids.

The 3rd graders are collecting food items for Kids’ Food Basket and also decorating bags with their kindergarten buddies for the sack suppers.

The 4th graders have used some of the money they earned from their school store to purchase books for Aberdeen Elementary School.  They will wrap the books and deliver them to the Kids there.  Each child will get to take their books home.

The 5th grade class is splitting into two groups.  Some of the Kids will be volunteering at Camp Roger. The other group will be visiting the residents at Bishop Hills.

The 6th grade classes are going to the Rockford American Legion to assist them with their November food pantry.  The Environmental Classroom students help them 2-3 times each year.  It is a real blessing for us as we help those who are less fortunate at this time.

The 7th grade class is cleaning up a family’s yard in Rockford on Tuesday Morning.

The 8th grade class helped deliver Operation Christmas Child boxes to the regional facility.  Once they arrived at the facility, they prayed over the boxes, packed them in cases and loaded them on a trailer. The shoeboxes are now in route to their next destination, and will soon be in the hands of happy children.

Jingle Bell Post Office
The Jingle Bell Post Office opens Monday, Dec. 2 with the last delivery date on Friday, December 20.
Stamps, Stationary, etc. are 5 cents each. (Donations are gladly accepted)
Proceeds will go to the Velting's to help bring their little boy home from Ethiopia.
Parents can buy stamps and send letters too!
