Blog Update January 26, 2015

Something new I’m trying
If your student at Rockford Christian School would like to make a project at home to share,  I will take a photo of it and I will put it on the RCS monitors.  The other choice is for you to take the picture and send it to me at DWorst@grcs.org. Please make all projects snow-related.

Winter Weather Reminders
Just a reminder that we do go outside for recess during the winter months. Please be sure that your child arrives to school prepared with adequate outdoor dress (coats, boots, snowpants, mittens/gloves, hats, etc.). Thank you!
Please be sure to wash your hands, and keep your kids home if they are sick.

Winter Fest, is a school-wide event sponsored by RCS PTO.  It will be held from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the RCS Gym and outside.  Check out the Home Bulletin for more details.

RNS News for This Week
iXplore Forms
The students received forms and explanations about iXplore this morning. iXplore will take place the week following spring break. This year, students in 5th-8th grade will be participating in iXplore week. Please look for a white paper (that has a letter on it) and a blue paper (that contains explanations of the choices). Students need to hand in a completed paper by Thursday of this week; completed papers include parent signatures. We’re looking forward to this exciting week!

6th Grade Environmental Classroom News for This Week
Last week the 6th grade EC students assisted the Frederik Meijer Gardens staff with some winter clean-up duties.  It was a great service-learning opportunity for us to see and experience all the details of FMG and to be able to get behine the scenes and see things that the general public don’t see.

This week the students will be going to Camp Roger and writing a letter to themselves.  They will put the letter in an envelope and seal it.  The letters will be opened by each student later in May.
Annual Ozark Delight Lollipop Sale Has Ended!!
Thanks to the efforts of all the 6th grade Environmental students, we have raised (as of last Friday) a profit of $630.00.  This amount went up a bit today when more money was turned in.  THANK YOU to all who helped.  The money raised is going to offset the cost of our environmental BLTs during the second semester.

Family Time News
Ask your student about today’s Family Time. Melanie Veldman talked to us about how our feet are important for doing God’s kingdom work and how we can make our feet more effective.

We watched a short video about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Here is a link to that video:   http://vimeo.com/9048156
