20th Anniversary Celebration - Thursday, October 27
On Thursday evening, October 27, we will have a special 20th anniversary celebration that we want ALL of our families-those new to school and those who were part of the beginning-to attend as we reflect on the past and look forward to the future.  We will hear testimonies from RCS alum Lucas Balk and from current RCS parent Penny Lloyd-Jones about the foundation of faith that God has used our school to help build.
You can get more details and register for this special event here. You may also stop in the RCS office to get a formal invitation for your family or to share with someone else.  We hope to see everyone there for a night of fellowship and worship as we celebrate what God has done in the first 20 years of our school and look forward to what is to come!

Kindergartners are enjoying “Reading Rocks!” with Pete the Cat as they bring home their special book bags filled with a book and activity. The bags are refilled in the library every time they are returned. Many of the kindergartners are enjoying a different book nearly every day!
Fifth graders are exploring the genre of realistic fiction with the reading incentive program “Real Reads.” A drawing is held each week for prizes and we will finish the program with a “Real Reads Breakfast Celebration”!
Did you know that, in addition to Kindergarten through fifth grade classes, preschool classes and Kids’ Club visit the library every week for story time? Ask your child about story time and see if they can tell you about what they heard.
Library Helpers: Mrs. McGinnis is in the library Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Mrs. Falk reads a story and helps out with book checkouts with 1st grade, Mrs. VanEngen with second grade, Beth Hague wraps our new books with plastic covers, and Jordan Falk shelves returned books. A big thank you to all of them!!

Reminder: All students must wear tennis shoes for PE. If they do not have their tennis shoes they are not able to participate as regular shoes make scuffs on the gym floor. for 5th-8th grade they will lose half their participation points for the day if they do not have their shoes.

I would love to continue to pray for you and your family.  If you would like to let me know any prayer requests, I would be happy to pray.
I’m praying that you have a great week!

Friday Morning
The 5th Graders are spending Friday morning at Calvin College. Students should be dressed for the weather and be prepared to spend time outside for most of the morning. They need to wear comfortable walking shoes. We will leave at the start of the day and be back just before lunch; students may order hot lunch on Friday. There will be a brief snack break during our time at Calvin, provided by Ms. Barrett.

6th Grade Updates
This week the the 6th grade environmental students will be taking a journey when they travel to their GGA (God’s Green Acre) while at Camp Roger.  Their journey will not be a long one, however.  It will be about 5 feet.  Each student will be given a piece of string to lay on the ground.  Each student will then record all the things that they observe along that piece of string.  They will use magnifying glasses to assist them in their observations.
On Friday the Environmental Program students will be tagging autumn olive plants that are invading the RCS property.  Autumn olive is a very invasive tree/bush that grows rapidly and competes for space in an ecosystem.

Blog Update Tuesday, September 13

I hope you had a good weekend with your friends and family!
Why do I do this blog? A couple reasons: 1) so everyone knows what’s going on in all the grades like field trips, etc. 2) so you can be in prayer for everyone and for all that’s going on.

Please note
the tab called “RCS Calendar”. If you click on it, you will be able to see all the upcoming events Just click on the Month tab to see future dates.
