5th Grade Update
5th Grade headed to the Grand Rapids Recycling Center on Wednesday afternoon. This afternoon will be a great time of learning as part of our current science unit covering recycling.

Friday Morning
The 5th Graders are spending Friday morning at Calvin College. Students should be dressed for the weather and be prepared to spend time outside for most of the morning. They need to wear comfortable walking shoes. We will leave at the start of the day and be back just before lunch; students may order hot lunch on Friday. There will be a brief snack break during our time at Calvin, provided by Ms. Barrett.

6th Grade Updates
This week the the 6th grade environmental students will be taking a journey when they travel to their GGA (God’s Green Acre) while at Camp Roger.  Their journey will not be a long one, however.  It will be about 5 feet.  Each student will be given a piece of string to lay on the ground.  Each student will then record all the things that they observe along that piece of string.  They will use magnifying glasses to assist them in their observations.
On Friday the Environmental Program students will be tagging autumn olive plants that are invading the RCS property.  Autumn olive is a very invasive tree/bush that grows rapidly and competes for space in an ecosystem.

PE News news for this week
Reminder: All students must wear tennis shoes for PE. If they do not have their tennis shoes they are not able to participate as regular shoes make scuffs on the gym floor. for 5th-8th grade they will lose half their participation points for the day if they do not have their shoes.
