Blog Update Monday, September 29

I hope that you got outdoors this weekend!

PAWS with a Cause
Friends from PAWS with a Cause are coming to visit the preschool classes on September 30 to teach us how a dog is trained to help me. We can’t wait to see a “foster puppyWe thought it would be exciting to have the entire school involved in collecting items or money that PAWS staff need to accomplish the dogs’ training.  Please consider adding to our collection by bringing in items from the list that teachers will send with home with students. Place items from the list in the boxes by both entrances beginning this week Wednesday until Monday morning, October 6. Thank you.
I will make a donation to Paws With A Cause and you can help by buying some of my note cards.  Look for them on the TRIP table or ask the RCS office!

5th Grade News for this week
This week the 5th grade Environmental Classroom students will be helping their second grade buddies harvest pumpkins in the pumpkin patch.

6th Grade News for this week
This week the 6th grade Environmental Classroom students will be participating in Operation Eradication A-O (Autumn Olive).  This invasive shrub is spreading across the midwest after being brought over from Asia nearly 130 years ago.  Recently the EC students tagged over 200 autumn olive plants along the drive leading up to RCS.  The 6th graders will be arming themselves with shovels and strong backs as they dig up this nasty invasive.  Want to find out more?  Go to http://msue.anr.msu.edu/news/autumn_olive_one_invasive_shrub

The 7th and 8th grade News
The 7th and 8th grade students will be spending a large portion of the day at ArtPrize on Wednesday October 1. They will be gone from 9:00-2:00.

Learning Commons News
Please ask your student about books they have checked out from the library. They would love to share them with you! Reading together is a fun and relaxing way to spend time with your child and promotes literacy. Be aware of which day is their library day and remind them to return books promptly.

Family Time news
Thank you to Mr. Kuiper for leading us in worship with songs. Ask your child about it.

Next week Monday, Mrs. Werdon will be back to lead our Family Time at 10:00 AM. Please take note of the change in time.
On Friday, there will be a special Family Time with grandfriends at 11:30 with lunch served afterwards by the 8th graders.

You can email me at dworst@grcs.org. I’ll need the pictures by Thursday in order to have them up on Friday.
I’m praying that you have a great week!
