  • Mr. Burgess Update
Mr. Burgess is back to school – part-time.  We are so happy to have him here!  Please keep praying for continued healing for him.

    Play Prop Help
We are looking for some props that we need for this year’s 8th Grade Class Play on Friday, February 7.  If you might be able to let us borrow the following items for the play, please contact   Mrs. Oren at soren@grcs.org or 616-574-6430.  The items include: coffee tables, gurney, and wedding dress.   Thanks so much for your help!

Congratulations to our spellers in the School Spelling Bee this year!  We had 40 participants in grades 4-8 and they all did so well!  Our runner-up this year was Nathan Solle (7th grade).  In second place was Henry Schenkel (6th grade) and in first place was Isaac Rop (7th grade).   Isaac and Henry will be going to the next round of competition for the Regional Bee, which will be held on Tuesday, February 11, beginning at 4:30, at Central Elementary in Grand Rapids.  Well done, spellers!

    You’re Invited!
Make sure that you have the 8th Grade Class Play penciled in on your calendar for Friday, February 7! The play starts at 8:00 p.m., and this year the play will be “The Westing Game,” which is adapted from the mystery book written by Ellen Raskin. Your evening at the play will guarantee many laughs with the comical story being performed by your favorite 8th Graders.  This is a great idea for a night out!  We hope to see you there to help figure out who will win it all in the Westing Game!

    Emergency School Closings
When inclement weather makes it necessary to cancel school, announcements are made over the following radio and television stations: WOOD AM 1300, and TV Channels 8 and 13. If Rockford Public Schools are closed or on a delay, RCS is also closed or on a delay and will be listed separately. A delay will result in no before-school care, no morning kindergarten, no preschool and no Kids’ Club. If the delay happens on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, class for afternoon kindergarten enrichment students will begin at 12 noon that day.

    Family Time
We had a special guest, Ben VanderKodde from Grace Adventures Bible Camp, come to talk with us today.  Ask your Kids about it.

    Art Club
Art club starts this week with Mrs. Kurnz.  She will be leading two groups.  The 1st-4th graders will have their first meeting on Tuesday, January 21st.  The 5th-8th graders will have their first meeting This Tuesday, January 14th.  The cost is $25 per student, or $40 per Family.  Sign up in the school office.

    6th Grade Environmental Classroom
There is room yet for the Art Club for Middle School students that meets on Tuesdays.  If your child is interested in meeting after school on Tuesdays, be sure to sign-up soon.

The sixth grade Environmental Classroom students will be going to Pando Winter Sports Park on Wednesday to go tubing.  This takes place of the postponed activity that got snowed out on the Friday before Christmas break.  One Friday the students will be going to their God’s Green Acre at Camp Roger and look for/identify animal tracks that can be found on their GGA.

    A week at a glance
There are no extra activities happening at RCS this week.

Thanks for all you do for God’s Kingdom!
    Mr. Dave
