Blog Update Tuesday, December 2, 2014

I hope that you had a good Thanksgiving weekend!

Emergency School Closings
When inclement weather makes it necessary to cancel school, announcements are made over the following radio and television stations: WOOD AM 1300, and TV Channels 8 and 13. It will also be posted on the front page of the website www.grcs.org and also on our facebook page. When RPS is closed or delayed, so is RCS.
A 2 hour delay means: no before school care, preschool or Kids Club. If the delay occurs on a M/W/F, there is no morning kindergarten session and kindergarten will begin at 11:45 a.m. for those students who attend the afternoon session. If the delay occurs on a T/Th, the morning kindergarten session is not held.

Operation Christmas Child
correction- RCS packed 112 boxes. Thank you one more time!!

Yearbook Cover Contest
Congratulations to the two RCS students whose covers were chosen for the 2014-2015 Yearbook covers: Elizabeth Santiago (6th grade) will have her artwork featured on the front cover and Luke Foll (5th grade) will have his artwork on the back cover. Congratulations to both Elizabeth and Luke! Thanks to all of the students who submitted covers this year; there were many wonderful entries and it made it very difficult to narrow it down to just two.

It's Time to Order Your Yearbook
Yearbook order forms went home with your child last Friday. If you order a yearbook before December 15, they are $20! After that they go up in price. If you have any questions please email Kim Wierenga at kwierenga@grcs.org.

6th Grade Environmental Classroom News for This Week
This week the 6th grade Environmental Classroom students hope to get out to their GGAs at Camp Roger in order to put the final touches on their winter survival shelters.  Historically, these shelters have been completed by now.  Ironically, the abundance of snow and extreme weather has hampered their progress.  The students should be completed by this Friday.
