The 1st full week of school is over!!
September 16-20 is the second full week!
Thank you for coming Friday night to the GRCS event deck to
celebrate with other RCS Families. It
was a great time. Thank you GRCS for
sponsoring this event!!!!
Why do I update my blog?
So you can pray for all the things that are happening at
Rockford Christian School.
Family Time
Thank you, Second Graders, for leading Family Time this
morning.
LEARNING COMMONS
All classes have started checking out books. Please
remind students on their library day to return books they’ve finished reading.
Hint: It’s a good idea to have a special shelf or box in the home to store
library books so they are easy to locate.
Miss DeVries
Some of you know she used to work here, and now is at
South Christian HS. Some of her students are coming here to volunteer Sept. 19
from 8:40 – 11. They LOVE to work with our students.
Have you wondered…
Who puts the information on the monitors? Well,
the secret is out! It’s me, Mr. Dave! If you have any prayer
requests or announcements, feel free to email me at dworst@grcs.org.
Noon Recess Volunteers Needed
We still need noon recess volunteers to supervise the
playground from 12:10 to 12:30.
We need 4 parents per day. Wednesday and Friday have
many slots still open.
To offer your help visit "Sign up Genius“.
Logo—Ephesians 3:17-19
Ms. Barrett’s brother created this years theme logo!
Mr. Burgess: Please continue to
hold Mr. Burgess and his family in prayer as he continues to recover.
Check the Rockford Christian School Facebook page for updates.
Mrs. Wierenga’s Dad was just
diagnosed with a non-cancerous disease that will be treated with chemo.
It will be a long road to recovery. Please keep their family in your
prayers as they care for him.
Mrs. Wierenga’s aunt has been waiting
for a heart transplant for 3.5 years. She finally received the call on
Sept. 5 to get the transplant. We rejoice in this news, but also pray for
the donor family that is grieving.
Pray for
United States and Syria with all of the issues.
Friends from PAWS with a Cause
are coming to visit the preschool classes on September
30 to teach us how a dog is trained to help Mr. Dave. We thought it would
exciting to have the entire school involved in collecting items or money that
PAWS staff needs to accomplish their training. Please consider adding to
our collection by bringing in items from the list and placing them in the boxes
by the entries until September 30. We can’t wait to see a Foster Puppy
Thank you.
Mr. Dave will make a Donation to
Paws With A Cause - you can help him by buying some of his note
cards. Look for them on the TRIP table, or ask the RCS office!
Peanut Free
Just a reminder that we continue to be a “peanut free”
school. No peanut products are allowed at school. Any questions, contact the school office
Mrs. Bruining will be joining Mrs. Werdon’s 3rd graders in the afternoon for Language Arts. Mrs.
Bruining taught 2nd grade at Rockford
Christian from 2000-2004 before staying home with her kids who are now
in 4th
and 1st
grade at Ada Christian.
Welcome back, Mrs. Bruining!
Curriculum Night - September 17, 7-8
p.m.
This Tuesday night, September 17, is our
annual RCS Curriculum Night, which is an opportunity for you to hear from your
children's teacher(s) about the school year and to meet other parents at RCS.
Teachers will run two sessions of approximately 20-25 minutes each, at 7:00 and
7:30, and there will also be computer lab presentations for 5th grade and
new middle school parents about the 1:1 laptop program at 7:30-8:00 and
from 8:00 - 8:30. Hope to see you there!
Curriculum Night Babysitting
Parents, do you need someone to watch your children
while you attend Curriculum Night If so, you
have a fun and friendly option to choose right here at school! 8th
graders will be offering their babysitting services, complete with activities
planned, from 6:45-8:30 on Curriculum Night in order to raise money for their
class trip to Mackinaw City in May. Take advantage of this
convenient and entertaining (or educational if your child needs to get some homework
done!) opportunity, and help to support the 8th graders with a
donation. Sign in/out will be in the band/music room. If you have
any questions, feel free to contact Mrs. Oren. Thanks!
