Blog Update Monday February 10, 2014

I hope that you had a great weekend,

Parking in Front of School
A reminder to all RCS parents about pick-up and drop-off time in front of school: During the busiest times of traffic at school—between 8:00 – 9:00 a.m., at the 11:15 preschool pick-up and 11:45 kindergarten pick-up, and between 3:00 – 3:45 p.m. after school—please do NOT park your vehicle in front of school and run into school.  Parking in front of school slows down the flow of traffic.  If you must come into school, please find a parking space in the lot and come in.  Thanks for your attention to this detail.

Mr. Burgess Update
Mr. Burgess is back to school – part-time.  We are so happy to have him here!  If you need to speak with him, please e-mail him to set up a time: eburgess@grcs.org.  Please keep praying for continued healing for him.

The meal schedule for the Burgess' has been extended through Spring Break. If you're willing and able to help, please click on the link below and sign up for a time.

This is especially helpful now that Eric is coming back to work a few days and Tracy is back to work as well.

Thank you in advance for being the hands and feet of Christ!

You are a blessing the Burgess family!

5th-8th Grade Skating Party - Monday, Feb. 17, 6:30-8:30 p.m
5th - 8th graders: In an effort to try to facilitate more students being able to attend the upcoming RCMS/GRCMS skating party at Woodland Skating Rink (Monday, Feb. 17, 6:30-8:30 p.m.), we would like to offer a FREE bus ride from RCS (leaving at 6:00) to GR and back (around 9:00). Emergency School Closings
When inclement weather makes it necessary to cancel school, announcements are made over the following radio and television stations: WOOD AM 1300, and TV Channels 8 and 13. If Rockford Public Schools are closed or on a delay, RCS is also closed or on a delay and will be listed separately. A delay will result in no before-school care, no morning kindergarten, no preschool and no Kids’ Club. If the delay happens on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, class for afternoon kindergarten enrichment students will begin at 12 noon that day.

8th Grade Play
Great job presenting 'The Westing Game' Friday night, 8th graders!! Special thanks goes to Mrs. Oren for all of the work she put into getting the kids ready to perform, pulling the many props together, and directing another great play! And Kelly Tuit, the sets were amazing!
Thanks also to Katie Rottschafer Sosnowski for help with the set, too! The entire production is a total team effort.

Congratulations to our spellers in the School Spelling Bee this year!  We had 40 participants in grades 4-8 and they all did so well!  Our runner-up this year was Nathan Solle (7th grade).  In second place was Henry Schenkel (6th grade) and in first place was Isaac Rop (7th grade).   Isaac and Henry will be going to the next round of competition for the Regional Bee, which will be held

Conference Night Babysitting
Parents, do you need someone to watch your children while you attend Parent-Teacher Conferences TOMORROW NIGHT, Tuesday, February 11, and NEXT Thursday, February 20?  If so, you have a fun and friendly option to choose right here at school!  8th graders will be offering their babysitting services, complete with activities planned, from 3:45-8:00 on these Conference nights in order to raise money for their class trip to Mackinaw City in May.  Take advantage of this convenient and entertaining (or educational if your child needs to get some homework done!) opportunity, and help to support the 8th graders with a donation.  Sign in/out will be in the middle school hallway.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact Mrs. Oren (soren@grcs.org).  Thanks!
