Blog Update Tuesday February 25, 2014

I hope that you had a great weekend!!!

Remember that Mr. Burgess is out of school this week attending a PLC Summit.  Mrs. Jan VanderWerp, former RCS principal from 2006-2010, will be "subbing" as principal.  When Mrs. VanderWerp is not available, Mr. VerMerris will be the "go to" person.  Please keep Mr. Burgess and the other RCS and GRCS teachers at the PLC Summit in your prayers for safe travels and a meaningful time of learning to bring back to RCS, as well as praying for the families of those who are gone as they have loved ones away.

Snoring Eagle Campground
It is not too late to volunteer for the Snoring Eagle camping event on Friday night, February 28/Saturday morning, March 1.  Current needs can be found at the sign up genius email you were sent last week or visit the website at  www.signupgenius .com (search for sign up using vanorman@charter.net) . Thanks for your support. See you at camp!!!

There's still time to register for the Snoring Eagle Campout this Friday, February 28! We have limited availability for overnight camping sites so get your reservation in today! Day Campers just let us know how many in your family will be attending the event.  Looking forward to a fun night with all the Snoring Eagle Campers.

GRCHS 8th Grade Parent/Student Night at RCS - Wednesday, February 26
8th grade students and their parents are invited to an 8th grade scheduling night with the GRCHS counselors. Please join us at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26 at RCS.

This is an important night to look over class selections for 9th grade and meet your counselor. It is important that we meet with all students who are planning to attend GRCHS. If you are unable to attend this evening, you may attend the the Make-up night on Tuesday, March 11. Please register for this night event by emailing Jana Hoglund at jhoglund@grcs.org. or calling her at 574-5651.

Urgent Need - Tissue Donations
We ask that if you are able, please drop off a box of tissues to the school office. We use these donations to help supply our classrooms and with all the colds around lately, our supply is running low. Thank you!

Spring Sports Sign-ups for Middle School began this week and continues until Friday, February 28. Sign-up sheets are located in homeroom classrooms.

6th Grade Environmental Classroom
This week the 6th Grade Environmental is getting ready for a much different environment.  You could say that they are “Going to the birds!” because they will be learning about flying, airplanes, and space.  On Wednesday, Ms. Uhrig, from the NASA Lab will be coming to RCS for a pre-class and then next Wednesday, March 5, the Environmental Classroom students will be attending the NASA Lab which is located at the Gerald R Ford Airport.  I hope to be joining them on this exciting trip with the wonderful Mr. VerMerris and delightful Miss Barrett.
This Friday, the EC students will be going to Camp Roger and their GGAs.

Ladies' Time Out Event
The 6th grade environmental classroom will be having its spring fundraiser at the beginning of March. Women, mark your calendars for the Ladies' Time Out Event on March 7-8. Sign up for Friday evening, Saturday during the day, or both. Invite your friends to scrapbook, craft, and spend time together. All proceeds go towards the 6th Grade Environmental Program. Click this link for more information and to sign-up/secure your spot for this event. Feel free to share this link with friends who might be interested in attending:
